Hi everyone! So I've been wanting to dye my hair PURPLE for a few months now but I was too much of a chicken to go through with it.. I was already looking up hair dyes like Splat hair dye & Manic Panic. I did all my homework like research on how to do it, maintain & take care of it & most importantly the end results. I was just so tired of the different shades of brown that we Filipinas tend to gravitate around. Light brown, medium brown, ash brown, etc. Since my brother's wedding is coming up I know I needed to color my hair soon. But I opted NOT to go through with the splat hair dye because I thought it would be too much work to maintain it (based on the reviews I've read) and also because the dress we're going to wear would be green and I don't wanna look like a rainbow with bright purple hair in a green dress. So the hair color I wanted was a subtle purple / red color that would show up when I'm outside on the sun. And luckily I stumbled upon this color! I was walking around the APM Mall across SM Cebu when I saw this store there that was selling salon supplies. And their hair dyes were kinda like the ones on Hortaleza. The saleslady helped me look at the color chart and patiently answered my questions. Plus points to her! So I chose their Bremod Purple Hair Dye. Note though that the box doesn't have a name of the color on it, you have to look at their color chart , choose the color you want and then note the NO. of the dye. So just ask for the saleslady's help.
This is my hair before. It's a mix of black , brown and eekkk! premature gray hair.
This is the no. of the dye that you need to remember for this particular shade. And the price is just P85. YUP! You read that right just P85!
This is what the tube looks like inside and the green bottle is the 6% oxidizing solution that you need to mix with the color. It was the saleslady who told me to get the 6% solution because I have gray hair. I forgot to ask her why. The correct mixture is 1:1. Just follow the instructions on the label it's fairly simple.
These are the other materials you need to dye your own hair. Brush, hair cap so it won't stain everything and hair mask to nourish your hair. And of course you need to wear an old shirt / towel that you won't mind being stained.
And now for the end results...
This is my hair wet. As you can see it isn't very clear on the picture but in person it's dark purple. It really covered up my gray hair which I am really happy about.
Now this is my hair under the sun. My hair is naturally wavy, and I just woke up here so this is my bed hair. Haha I just wanted you to see the purple/reddish color under the sun. I'll upload soon another picture that's nicer.
I think if you have naturally blonde hair or you bleached your hair then this would come out as really bright. But this is the exact shade that I wanted not too bright but enough color to stand out and give me that pizzaz. Awesome!
Now here are some pros and cons about this hair dye:
PROS:
1. Really cheap! I paid around P200 all in all including the dye, hair cap, brush and 2 hair masks.
2. The end result color is exactly what I wanted, and when you dye your hair this is the most important I think.
3. It was easy to use, the instructions were simple and straightforward, I think it helps that my hair is short too.
4.The hair mask or conditioner helped to soften my hair.
CONS:
1. It stained my skin. The lotion I put around my head and ears wasn't enough. So my tip is to put a generous amount and if you can see it stain a part of your skin wipe it off right away! Don't let it dry on your skin! 2 days after I dyed my hair the water still turns purple whenever I wash my hair. I hope the color won't come off right away. huhuhu
TIPS:
1. Don't shampoo your hair on the day itself that you are going to dye your hair. The natural oil on your hair will help protect your hair and the color will stay on better. Also nourish your hair BEFORE you dye your hair. Give it some TLC by putting on hair mask, & deep conditioning.
2. ALWAYS do a sensitivity test before you apply the hair dye.
3. If you want the color to really pop out then bleach your hair before you color it.
4. Don't use white towel a day or two after you dye your hair 'cause the color still comes off. I think it's like this even with other brands of purple or other bright colors. I've read reviews about this like on the Manic Panic and Splat hair color etc. I think of this brand as the local version of these. So squeeze out the excess water on your hair after you shower. Better yet to use dry shampoos. But you know how we Filipinos make fun of other people if we don't wash our hair. So I chose to wash it even though I know the color would fade faster. Sigh...
